RG: Mr Awesome
BA: Please call me Ben
RG: Ben, last season I’m sure you had high hopes of repeating your previous season’s playoffs appearance (Ben mutters something about the cursed sluggers robbing him yet again) but it was not to be…
BA: yes, we had some hard SOS games and the loss of Team Captain and stalwart killer, Tim Cook in the very first game hurt us a lot, then there were a number of aberrations in the following games; Mario Ko’ing himself, Greased up Vikings we couldn’t knock down, the inability to play the ball in the rain vs. the Patriot, with some bad coaching decisions all added up to a pretty poor first half of the season, but let’s not forget some of the more glorious moments, big wins against the Grizzlies, Classics and Thunderbolts put us in the position to salvage the season
RG: and then you strengthened in the mid-season window…
BA: yes, yes we did, and it paid off with a big win over the Universe, but then the unicorns killed two of the more important but often overlooked players that really let the stars shine
RG: explain to us what happened next, that game against the classics…
BA: urgh, do I really have to? It’s obvious to anyone watching I was in no fit state to coach the team that day and I should have been fired immediately for such a poor performance
RG: Rumour has it Tevin blames you for his injury and that’s why he quit the team
BA: What is said in the changing room stays in the changing room GRAAF
RG: Yes, erm certainly. Moving swiftly on and looking forward to the new season there has been some controversy about your trades…
BA: Well yes, we secured the services of Jenkins to provide a better one turn threat at the cost of potential future stars, which many didn’t like…
RG: on the subject of Jenkins, I hear he wanted Awesome A.J. on his team shirt?
BA: well he did but there’s room for only a single awesome ego on a team and in this case that’s mine, we were able to comprise on Flash Jenkins…
RG: Flash Jenkins? Heh, let’s hope he lives up to it
BA: let’s hope he lives at all in the most violent division in the DLE
RG: but it was the signing of Ken Meyers that really caused upset…
BA, yes it was. It’s odd. I couldn’t buy any fully rounded blitzer for my original offer from a number of coaches (including one who objected to the trade), yes the price was more than I wanted pay, but Ken will be one of the cornerstones of the team supporting the flashier stars such as Dreng and Mario
RG: so what are the season objectives?
BA: to win the Superb owl, what else is there?
RG: sure, yeah, I guess that sums it up…
